Manchester United Player Ratings: Leicester City 0 vs Manchester United 1

Manchester United vs Burnley Player Rati

Ole Gunnar Solskjær's incredible start to life at Manchester United continued as the Red Devils got all three points against an 11th place Leicester City at the King Power Stadium. A 9th-minute strike from an in-form Marcus Rashford secured a 1-0 victory for the Manchester Club making it United's 9th victory in Solskjær's first 10 games at the club. The win also means that United moves past Arsenal into 5th place in the Premier League table at least until Arsenal plays Manchester City later on today.

A fixture against Leicester City can always be a tricky one, the Foxes have beaten both Chelsea and Manchester City this season and in the last round held Liverpool at Anfield. Under pressure, Leicester City manager Claude Puel chose to leave new signing Youri Tielemans out of the squad for the game and had to insert young Harvey Barnes in the starting lineup after Marc Albrighton pulled up in training with a hamstring injury. The Red Devils usually do well against the Foxes being unbeaten in their last eight prior encounters.

United was not as free-flowing as in Solskjær's previous fixtures but still found a way to win against an impressive Leicester City team.

But how did the players get on? Let's have a look at the individual player ratings below.

De Gea: Still yet to sign a new contract at the club, De Gea has seemingly recovered from a loss of form that carried over from the World Cup. Calmly dealt with Leicester's early shots at him and did especially well from a Jamie Vardy acrobatic effort. Needed to be at his heroic best to keep out a thunderbolt of a free kick from Rachid Ghezzal. (8)

Young: The Manchester United captain always gives maximum effort and today was no different. However, despite this effort, it is clear that he is not a natural wingback getting caught out of position several times when the Foxes attacked. In possession, he also gave away the football far too frequently. (6)

Lindelof: The Iceman has been United's most convincing performer in the backline. His consistency is becoming quite impressive and the team is starting to count on him winning his duels more and more. For a team that struggles to keep clean sheets, they grabbed a valuable one today and Lindelof's performance was a key to that. (8)

Eric Bailly: Manchester United Ivorian international was brought in to the lineup in the expense of Phil Jones and looked really nervous early on, passing the ball completely off the pitch for a Leicester City corner. Grew into the game and put his body on the line to deny a rocket of a shot from Demarai Gray going on target. (7)

Shaw: Another solid performance for a player who is enjoying his best season since joining United some years ago. Scored his first ever professional goal in the reverse fixture but was more effective on the defensive end today. A crunching tackle on a James Maddison effort was just a sample of his overall commitment. (7)

Matic: Sat in front of the defence and rotated the ball when necessary. Took a yellow card for the team when he dragged down Ricardo Pereira on a dangerous Leicester City counter-attack. Caught in possession on top of his box that could have led to a Leicester goal. Fortunate to still be on the pitch for leaving his studs on the thigh of young Harvey Barnes. (7)

Herrera: A new contract should be forthcoming for the former Athletico Bilbao midfielder. His form and his attitude in the last few months have been fantastic, Herrera has all the attributes needed as United looks to continue building a team capable of challenging for the Premier League title. As expected he was neat and tidy whenever on the ball. (7.5)

Pogba: Has played every minute of every game since the departure of Jose Mourinho and the minutes might be taking a toll on his body having to brush off an injury scare to be available today. Pounced excellently on a Ricardo Pereira error to play a super ball over the top for the opener. An integral part of this continuous winning run, Pogba once again oozed class whenever he touched the ball. A level above his teammates, he is often the "out" ball when his teammates are in trouble. (8.5)* Man of the Match

Lingard: The 26-year-old academy product who once spent time on loan at Leicester City was the quietest of the front three. Picked up a carless yellow card for a late tackle on Maddison in the first half. He was almost anonymous in the second half and was replaced by Phil Jones as United defended the lead. (6)

Rashford: Starting in his preferred centre forward role, Rashford had a massive opportunity to give United the lead within five minutes and somehow headed over the bar from close range. It did not take long for him make amends as he lashed onto a Pogba pass to smash the ball past Schmeichel for the only goal of the game. Failed to make much of an impact after the goal and was replaced by Lukaku. (8)

Sanchez: After a brilliant performance in the FA Cup Manchester United fans were excited to see Sanchez take the pitch in a starting role . Very busy early on but faded with the rest of the team. Sometimes guilty of playing the difficult pass and was taken off on the 66th-minute mark for Martial. (6)

Substitutes:

Martial: Fresh off signing his new multi-year contract at Manchester United, Martial entered the game for a rather ineffectual Alexis Sanchez. Given 20 minutes to make an impact he had two good efforts on goal. (7)

Lukaku: On for his 300th appearance in English football, Lukaku had little time to show that he should be the starting number 9. (6)

Jones: Came on just to secure the win in the last few minutes. (N/A)
